- a tour of picturesque Devin castle
The scenic, calm road will lead us through the vineyards and orchards of Vipavska Brda, an area known for its rich wine culture and heritage, to Branica Valley. We will start our climb to Karst Plateau in the town of Branik, passing the picturesque Rihemberk castle where you will be rewarded with a stunning view of the lower Vipava Valley. The nature here starts transforming into a typical karstic landscape which is home for the best prosciutto and Teran wine.
You journey on through the village of Komen to the italian border where you start your descent to the popular sea resort of Sistiana. We’ll stop here to relax and soak our feet in the warm Adriatic Sea before continuing to Devin and its beautiful castle situated on a steep rockface high above the sea. From here on end, the coastal part of the route starts ascending slowly towards the direction Nova Gorica. We’ll turn to Dornberk when passing through the village of Miren, an area known for its endless vineyards and orchards, which will accompany us on the way back to the meeting point.
